Why Benin and Togo? Back Where It All Began
- August 2025
About 15 years ago, I lived in Benin, and ever since, it’s felt like a second home to me. The streets, the sounds, the people… they hold a special place in my heart. Before the pandemic, I was planning a nostalgia trip with some of my old classmates to retrace our steps and relive the beautiful chaos of our time there. Life got in the way—but the dream never left.
Now, I’m finally ready to make that journey happen.
What makes this return even more meaningful is the road that leads there—literally. You can’t drive to Benin from Ghana without passing through Togo. And to me, that’s no inconvenience. It’s an opportunity. So I thought: why not merge the two into one beautiful, cross-border experience?
Benin is where my memories live. Togo is where my roots lie. And this trip will be about both—past and present, memory and movement.
I’m excited to share this journey with you. It’s a chance to explore the vibrant cultures, rich histories, and breathtaking landscapes of both countries. From the bustling markets of Lomé to the serene beaches of Cotonou, we’ll experience the best of both worlds.
